Miguel Anselmo M.S.
Endurance Coach BA - Human Physiology, University of MN MS - Biology/Exercise Physiology, University of MN PhD Student - University of MN Team USA Long-Distance Triathlete (2019) 6x 70.3 | 1x Ironman 4x50km, 4x50mi, 1x100k - Ultra Coach Miguel's endurance journey started after suffering from one too many concussions playing high-school football. After failing to make the track team, he remembers feeling lost. He struggled with mental health issues that nearly took his life. That was when he saw on tv the Ironman World Championship. The stories of the competitors who overcame trauma and struggles inspired him, and he thought to myself that he could do the same. As a coach, Miguel strives to help his athletes understand their "why" and how to channel this energy to maximize not only their athletic performance, but how they perform in life. He strives to educate his athletes on how to integrate sport into life, not the other way around. He has coached multiple athletes to personal bests at the Marathon, 13.1, 10k, Sprint, Olympic, 70.3 distances, and Ironman distances. Miguel serves as Head Coach of the Carleton College Triathlon Team and as a Coach of the Minnesota Triathlon Team. He is a graduate researcher focusing on neuromodulation in diseased populations and blood pressure regulation during exercise. |
